Homeopathy

Homeopathic medicines are derived from a medical system developed in Germany over 200 years ago, based on the notion that "like cures like". Meaning "...disease can be cured by a substance that produces similar symptoms in healthy people." (NCCIH).

Homeopathic remedies are like vaccinating yourself. The theory is to give yourself a little of what you don't want to get rid of those very same symptoms, which is a bit like getting a flu shot, which contains a bit of the virus, so you don't contract the flu. You won't feel very well for a few days, but you gain immunity in the long term.

Homeopathic remedies are also available to "treat" viral infections like colds, flu, and Herpes Simplex Virus. Is there any evidence that homeopathic medicines help put herpes in remission? No. Even though some people say they've had success using homeopathic medicines, there is no scientific evidence that they work. I've read some pretty horrible reviews. In one review, a mother was trying to get help for her young daughter, who had outdoor allergies. After using homeopathic medicines, the child developed herpes all over her body and was hospitalized. She'd never had a herpes breakout before that. So, I'm not a fan. However, I wanted you to be aware of your options.

My intention isn't to imply that no homeopathic medicines work to relieve herpes symptoms. Homeopathic medicines, such as Herplex, are available for you to try.

Some say homeopathic medicines work pretty well in reducing herpes-related complaints. However, during my research, I encountered forums and other discussion groups where others said they had experienced adverse side effects. Some of these side effects were extreme. And some involved children.

Except for using cell salts, all things considered (and even though many will argue with me), I give homeopathic medicines a "thumbs down".

If you're considering homeopathic remedies, please see someone specializing in the field rather than purchasing over-the-counter products. You could end up doing more damage than good.
